Hey, I thought you were cancelled in real life? This is one of the games which should have a sequel in this generation - maybe because this is in this writer's wish list of games. And because everyone can dream, and because everyone's always been told he can achieve his dreams in the future, this writer's dreaming up the sequel.

Okay, now it's the future: UK-based G2 Games has announced that they've been devving the sequel to what is arguably one of the most recognizable attack helicopter simulations in the gaming world (at least since EA shut down the Jane's simulation department): Enemy Engaged: Apache/Havok and RAH-66 Comanche vs. Ka-52 Hokum.

The Enemy Engaged series featured equivalent attack helicopters in the US and Russian arsenals, facing off in large-scale battlefield campaigns. Anyone who has played Desert Strike knew this was the game s/he would ultimately graduate to. For these guys, the announcement of an Enemy Engaged 2 should be worth popping the champagne corks all over again - especially with the follow-up that the game is slated for an early 2007 release, with graphics and audio brought up to date "with the latest and best flight simulations available". Of course this we'll have to see and judge. At least it gives this writer an excuse to loaf from work and take to the skies again (as if Ace Combat wasn't enough...).
