Okay, so a fully functioning PvP mode for Diablo III isn’t quite here yet. However, Blizzard has offered us a small taste in the form of instanced free-for-all battles between up to four players. If you updated Diablo III yesterday during Blizzard’s weekly maintenance, you already have access to this PvP matchmaking thing.

That’s pretty much the whole deal. Blizzard is still playing coy on the complete PvP mode for the game, though it is somewhat expected with the title’s upcoming expansion. When that lands, of course, is entirely in the air. Don’t expect it any time in 2013. Maybe we’ll hear more about it at Blizzcon.

For now, you’ll just have to make do with what the Blizzard folks have come up with. Matched, limited PvP is probably better than no PvP, but it also comes nowhere near close to the complex multiplayer fights promised during the game’s development.
