Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy is now the center of attention for a new lawsuit brought to Midway Games. An L.A. screenwriter now claims his intellectual property rights were infringed upon by the creation of the game. William Crawford III filed the suit against Midway last month, claiming that the scenario and characters seemed far too similar for it to be coincidental, and that the idea was taken from a 1998 screenplay he wrote.
According to Crawford, word could have spread during his attempts to pitch his project to interested takers. A look at the US Copyright Office's website also lists "Psi-ops" as a copyrighted screenplay registered by Crawford on March 26, 1998, with "PSI-OPS : The Mindgate Conspiracy" registered by Midway on July 9, 2004.
