Piranha Bytes - Image 1Publisher Deep Silver has revealed that it indeed is working with Piranha Bytes, best known for their work on the dark RPG series Gothic. However, the game in the works between the two isn't the fourth installment in the franchise.

The publisher reveals that Piranha Bytes is currently working on a completely different game and all the while, efforts to develop Gothic IV are well underway with a different team working on the project.

"We aren't speaking about Gothic IV at all, as it isn't a game that will be released by Piranha Bytes; we are speaking about a new project," says a Deep Silver representative. "It will be something that takes advantage of the know-how and knowledge of previous Piranha Bytes games. We expect to have details in roughly a month's time," he adds.

There are no details yet as to what Piranha Bytes is working on. Gothic was an RPG which pitted Orcs against humans in a war that had the fate of both kingdoms at stake. In Gothic III, players were given a choice to choose which side they wanted to aid, setting them up on a non-linear quest to tip the balance of the great conflict.
