Bethesda would rather go for quality over quantity. That's why according to Pete Hines, they're keeping their eyes on maintaining their portfolio small and tight.Said Hines, the common mistake of big gaming companies is that they're spreading themselves out too thin, trying to juggle multiple titles all at one time, thereby diluting the quality of the said projects in effect.
"I have heard a lot of other compabies talking about 'well, we're going to focus on fewer triple-A titles, changing their philosophy - but they're changing it to something that we've always been structured towards, and believed in since I started at Bethesda in 1999," he told GamesIndustry.
The trick to keeping it relevant in the business is to "not trying to be in every genre."

"We don't go running after the latest, hottest trend," he said. "We tend to pay attention to what we're doing, we make the kind of games that we want to play, because we think there's an audience for those and we try as best we can to execute them to the highest level possible."

And let it be noticed that I love their games, since Arena back in 1994 ('though I didn't play Morrowind 'till the end, but loved Oblivion and Fallout 3 despite their problems).
I just get really mad when I think they simply dropped support for them on their console versions when they were still riddled with tons of bugs, or even reintroduced the vampire quest bug in Oblivion GOTY for PS3, basically ripping off whomever bought that edition in US (EU users like me could change language temporarily to German as a workaround, even not knowing anything about it, just to finish the quest - hurrah to the Internet).
And to whom criticizes Bioware, I must say that I never saw one of their games be so bugged like oblivion or fallout 3. But maybe I'm one of the few that enjoyed Dragon Age II and didn't get disappointed with it. Wonder if I'm getting too few time to play because of real life and get happy with less in terms of gaming? Nah... I still can't find any fun on playing wii and "casual" games
In short, Peter Hines phrases are just executive trash talk to try to make good publicity and stay well in the picture. Typical. This is the core problem with VG/Music/Motion Picture industry nowadays. Probably he never ever finished Bethesda games or played them for very long.
