Paradox Interactive introduces open sandbox RPG Mount & Blade, screenshots |
Ó
Through press wire, we hear that TaleWorld's Mount & Blade has been picked up by independent publisher Paradox Interactive, and through Paradox will the fantasy free-form sandbox adventure game be available to all territories around the world.
Together with this announcement came what appears to be 10 near-production quality screenshots of the game, which apparently sports a ton of improvements since its earlier screenshots.
Mount & Blade is actually more of a role playing game than of a sandbox adventure type, but it was through it's open-endedness that it's true qualities and selling bits began to stand out.
In essence, Mount & Blade will allow players to partake in the unfolding of the land's progress by any way they see fit: as a travelling merchant, a powerful lord of the Calradia, an honor-bound Knight, or a grand mixture of other roles.
You can develop your character via RPG mechanics, while also creating your own story by what actions you take while traversing the land.
You may opt to seek fame and fortune as a jousting knight, turn into a seedy character with a penchance to slit throats when given enough gold, or amass a great army to raid towns and fortified cities with. Other features include:
- Free-form sandbox gameplay. Trade, serve, or even joust. Go anywhere, do anything in a world thriving with hundreds of locations.
- Distinctive horseback combat. Mount up and attack your foes with swords, lances or bows & arrows.
- Highly advanced and intuitive sword-fighting system.
- Be a lonesome adventurer, conniving merchant, or a commander of armies.
- Interact with hundreds of characters; hire mercenaries to build a private army, accept quests to assassinate troublemakers, or boost your reputation by buying a round of beer at the local tavern.
Not bad for a married duo. That's right - TaleWorlds is a two-man team: a man and his wife.
