Pac-Man is the all-time favorite game

According to the survey conducted by KontrolFreak, Pac-Man is indeed the people's all-time favorite game. 

 

 

Reportedly, a whopping 80% of the participants voted Pac-Man for their pick when asked which video game is their favorite. What is not known, however, is if they were asked to identify the game, or if they were made to choose from a range of options -- if so, what other games were included in the list.

Apparently, the survey was conducted as part of the company's study for the promotion of their brand of arcade sticks, so playability on these controls might have been a factor for the said survey. Surprisingly, no new title is included in the list. It can either imply two things: that the survey is limited to old consoles, or that people really just dig down really deep into their childhood when asked about their favorite games.

The rest of the top 10 "All-time Fave" games include the following:

 

  1. Pac-Man
  2. Donkey Kong
  3. Space Invaders
  4. Asteroids
  5. Frogger
  6. Ms. Pac-Man
  7. Centipede
  8. Pong
  9. Mortal Kombat
  10. Galaga

 

 

Early this year, Pac-Man was reported to be coming out with an actual reality show, with Namco Bandai and Merv Griffin Entertainment as partners. We haven't heard anything about it since, though, so we're not really sure if that pushed through or not.

All of the games on that list are classics worth playing but from that list I would pick Galaga. My all time favorite would be Super Mario Bros 3, followed very closely by the game that my avatar comes from...

Hmm, the classic pacman game seems over rated. sure, back in the day it was an advanced game since it had full AI for the ghosts, but when i play it now, it seems on the boring side. It's also gets too hard.... just my thought.

Maybe because you don't need to expend 25c on it... when you bet your money on something all tables turn..

Pac-Man, Space Invaders, Asteroids, Centipede, Pong & Galaga all have simple classic gameplay but the rest have aged and are just gonna look even older over the years, and i wouldn't put Mortal Kombat anywhere near any list without Street Fighter 2 well ahead of it, plus where the Hell is Super Mario 3 and Tetris.

I agree with you about Street Fighter 2. That game created the popularity of the fighting game genre. And it's still well loved by fans of fighting games.
