Ossian Studios talks Neverwinter Nights 2 Mysteries of Westgate pack |

If you'd had enough of ship battling, then why not sit down for some good old fashioned lore? Recently, IGN had the chance to chat with Alan Miranda and Luke Scull, co-Lead designers for Ossian Studios' Neverwinter Nights 2 adventure pack, Mysteries of Westgate.
They talked about the reasons behind choosing the city of Westgate as a setting for their game, as well as some of the lore surrounding the different districts. First off, Miranda talked about their reasons behind choosing Westgate as the setting for their adventure.
According to him, it was a setting that was "on the other end of the spectrum from sleepy Daggerford," the setting for their previous NWN adventure module, Darkness over Daggerford.
For Forgotten Realms fans, it seems, the name "Westgate" evokes a sense of danger. As he explains, it was a city that "bustled with danger, and that would fire up a lot of excitement at the mere mention of its name," and we certainly agree with him in that regard.
Next, Luke Scull brought more flavor into the discussion by describing the town that people will be visiting over the course of the game's 15-hour adventure. According to Scull, Westgate is a very open city due to its status as a major trading town.
In Westgate, you'll find "drow mingling with ogres, pirates and worse in the city's dingy taverns, or else see exotic creatures that wouldn't be tolerated elsewhere hawking their wares in broad daylight."
More importantly, he explains, you'll be able to visit a couple of different districts, each with their own uniqueness intact. In the Arena District, for example, you'll be able to watch gladiators tearing each other to shreds in the arena.
A few steps away from it, however, you'll find yourself in the middle of the Market Triangle, where one can purchase all manners of goods, so long as they're legal. If you're looking for stuff on the other end of the legal spectrum, you can visit the town's Undergate district, in which "anything goes and everything has a price."
If that piques your interest in visiting the trading city, you'd do well to wait for Obsidian Entertainment and Ossian Studios to release the adventure pack. In the meantime, you can read up on the city of Westgate by following the source link below. Enjoy!
