AMD and Nvidia sure are friends, being together for better, and unfortunately, even for worse. The two companies are sharing even their woes, particularly, the one brought about by the Justice Department's antitrust campaign.

Allegedly, the graphics chip maker received a subpoena from the Department of Justice on Friday as part of its investigation into potential antitrust violations. However, it said that there were no specific allegations made against the company. But certainly, this is one invitation they wouldn't pass up. Meanwhile, AMD also received a subpoena from the DOJ, this time, as part of the investigation into the graphics processing market.

Together, these two companies hold about 25% of the market for graphics chips and cards used in computers, mobile phones and game consoles. While they are just as intrigued as the rest of us as to why the DOJ would even dare think to summon them for the investigations, the department remains to keep mum under the "no-comment" blanket.

As much as I love Nvidia and AMD's products, the prices for these video cards keep going up and up and up. Whats even worse is that 3 months after you drop all that cash, something newer and faster is released and you're left out in the cold.
