No Prestige Edition for Modern Warfare 3 |

If you're still holding off on pre-ordering Modern Warfare 3's Hardened Edition in hopes of getting the Prestige Edition instead, don't bother. Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling has confirmed via Twitter that unlike previous entries in the popular series, the highly anticipated multiplayer shooter won't be getting a Prestige Edition.
The Modern Warfare 3 Hardened Edition already sounds like a pretty good variant for hardcore fans of the series, though. It may not be a Prestige Edition, but it already comes with a price tag that's US$ 20 more expensive compared to previous Hardened Editions. The game's Hardened Edition will supposedly come with the following:
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 game with unique disc art.
- SteelBook case.
- PlayStation Network exclusive: "Animated Timeline Theme."
- Xbox 360 exclusive: "Special Ops Juggernaut Xbox Live Outfit."
- Limited-edition "field journal" with more than 100 pages of "authentic military sketches, diagrams and written entries."
Aside from those items, it will reportedly have a one-year membership in Activision's Call of Duty Elite service. Buying the Hardened Edition will give players "founder status" on Elite, which translates to an exclusive in-game emblem, player card, camouflage, clan XP boost and other exclusive benefits.
So instead of getting night-vision goggles or RC car, Activision is instead focusing on introducing players to the Call of Duty Elite service. After all, they're bound to make much more money on a subscription service than on a single purchase.
