No Grip-made boss battles in Deus Ex: Human Revolution DLC |

One of the few big complaints about Deus Ex: Human Revolution was the disparity between the general gameplay and the boss battles. Where stealth had a much larger focus in the rest of the game, the boss battles were pretty much straight-up action affairs.
The divisive nature of the boss battles was apparently due to Eidos Montreal having outsourced their development to Grip Entertainment, whose boss Paul Kruszewski admitted that he didn't know a lot about the Deus Ex world. For The Missing Link, however, Eidos is doing everything in-house.
The downloadable content add-on has a boss battle near the end, but unlike those found in the main game players will actually have more options on how to approach it. Producer of The Missing Link, Marc-Andre Dufort, further assured gamers that it will be a lot less frustrating as well.
"You can actually not kill the boss," he told Eurogamer. "You can do a non lethal takedown on him. And you can kill him from afar. You can even kill him without him seeing you. It's more of a bigger challenge than a standard boss fight like we have in many games.
"Everything was done in Montreal at Eidos. It's a lot less frustrating. But it depends on the way you play. If you played more combat in the main game, you probably didn't have any trouble dealing with the boss fights. So we allow the adaptation of the way you play for that particular boss fight."
That certainly sounds like good news for those who hated the main game's boss fights. I guess the lesson here is don't outsource your boss battles; even if you do, at least choose a developer who actually knows what your game is all about.
