New Syndicate Trailer is All About the Tech

Syndicate (often called Syndicate 2012) is a remake of the Syndicate tactical shooter games from the 90s. Of course, it's been updated and turned into an FPS. They're all the rage these days.

Anyway, the main thrust of Syndicate is that it's the future, corporations run the world, everybody has cybernetic implants manufactured by these corporations, and they're all up to no good. It's pretty common dystopian fare, but it certainly looks like a lot of fun in this latest trailer. Your character has an uber-chip that lets him manipulate the interface of the world via everyone else's chips, Neo style. The nod to The Matrix is obvious, but it's still nice to have something to do in a FPS other than just shooting and throwing grenades.

Syndicate is the brainchild of Starbreeze Studios and is being produced by EA. It's previously been described as a meld between Mass Effect and Crysis, and reminds me a bit of the overlooked-but-fun Singularity, so it's definitely going to be worth a play.

Don't say that I can't possibly know this before playing it because we All know the new Syndicate is going to flop. Just like X-com probably will. FPS's are overcooked and essentially destroying old formulas just to make them fit in to todays FPS rage. Companies just want to earn a quick buck out of it because they know most of you will fall in to the "curiosity" trap.

Those that always argue to give it a chance are those that, once it's released, always squeel the loudest and suddenly pretend they also knew it was sh*te all along. Why not just come clean now and agree that this game is probably going to be mediocre at best, and fade away to the gaming depths of forgottenness the day after it's released.
