New Leisure Suit Larry HD in the works |
Listed in: News Tags: hd remake, leisure suit larry, leisure suit larry hd, point and click games, replay games
Leisure Suit Larry has it's place in video game history, where I'm not sure, but somewhere between crumpled copies of BMX XXX and Custer's Revenge. But Leisure Suit Larry HD is coming next year from the original creators and Replay Games.
During the big boom of point and click adventures, Leisure Suit stuck out like a sore....thumb and it wasn't going away any time soon, even when the money and the cerebral enjoyment of P & C games dried up...but looks like they're back again.

That being said, the Leisure Suit series never really went away. In the past decade there have been at least 3 Leisure Suit games, not including the multiple portable and smart phone iterations but still Larry sticks around. What the new version will hold seems just to be upgraded graphics and a sense of nostalgic whimsy.
Point and click games have come back in a really big way and whilst they're disguised in some form with games like LA Noire and big franchised titles such as the Strong Bad series, or even the iOS releases of Monkey Island. Whether or not they're here to stay is questionable but there is definitely a market that slinks into the casual market and I'd love to see some facts and figures on them bad boys.

The last game "Box Office Bust" was console only.
Also, "original creators" does not necessarily mean Al Lowe. He was the heart of LSL, not the brain. It could very well be they are only referring to the brains and pocketbook.

Al Lowe has only given his blessing to this HD remake, not necessarily be involved in the actual development process. But by buying these remakes it may make people interested of LSL again and MAY get Al Lowe involved with developing brand new LSL game with Larry Laffer.
Al Lowe didn't have any involvement (thank god) with those games I refer as console crap =)

He also gave his "blessing" to Magna Cum Laude even though he wasn't involved with it.
I have no hope for this. I'll still check it out but.....the hope is lost.

Its always been about trying to get Larry laid and sex so when they go away from that its not a real LSL game.
I hope the next one is back to the way it was. A sex game as thats the funniest and only way a LSL game should be.
