World of Warcraft’s next expansion, Mists of Pandaria launches on September 25. With the release fast-approaching, Blizzard has been pulling back its veil of secrecy and letting players in on all the tiny details they’ve been craving for so, so long.

The latest news? When Mists of Pandaria goes live, any World of Warcraft player, with any level of expansion, will be able to choose any of the game’s races. In other words, even players with a basic World of Warcraft box, free of expansion packs, will be able to play as Worgen, Goblins, Draenei, Blood Elves and, yes, Pandaren.

It makes sense—Mist of Pandaria is aimed at new WoW players, and most probably don’t want to buy four expansion packs in order to unlock its primary selling point. Some players seem to be a bit grouchy about the news, but I suppose there will always be folks that look for reasons to complain.

For the record, you still can’t make a Death Knight without Wrath of the Lich King, and you can’t visit any of Pandaria beyond its starting content without Mists of Pandaria. But you can make as many cuddly bears as you want.

How do you feel about Mists so far?
