Minecraft Statistics will knock your block off

MineCon was last weekend and Notch and Minecraft fans and pretty much everyone who has ever done anything important in Minecraft was in attendance. Video Game Vlogger, SeaNanners, Musician and DJ, Deadmau5, the guys from Mega64 and sadly not a single invite to QJ.net. Oh well, we got to reap the benefits.

241,920,000 logins per month

1,000 logins per hour

4000 logins per second after 1.0 launch

2,000,000,000 files download by the launcher

11,000 skin downloads (in game) per second

Okay so let's break those numbers down.

The two hundred million plus logins per month is both new and old players who have stuck around. Even with the four million copies sold, that's fifty million individual logins, possibly more than a thousand per hour. From that thousand per hour, that's 16 per minute at least. Then when 1.0 went live, that turned into 4000 per second, which is insane and would crash any normal launch server (Re: Triple AA Titles). The two billion files, is not too surprising with anyone who got the Adventure Update and then updated any time post-1.0.

So yeah, Minecraft is making a lot of money, it's players are happy and I will probably play it till I die. I actually took some time off for a new internship I'm starting and work and family, etc. but I did log in to my Minecraft level only a few days ago and I forgot how fun it was, that I actually got lost for two hours in some mines and had to dig up only to find a zombie hanging outside my house...good times, always good times.
