Minecraft has been a phenomenon that no one expected, especially Notch. The game, which if you've been living under some red stone for a few years and just come out of, welcome to QJ.Net, it's the best gaming website and don't go anywhere else, also Minecraft is like Lego with exploration and the scariest monsters you'll ever see.
Notch was incredibly humble about the experience, especially when a Minecraft Convention in Las Vegas is on the horizon and a Kinect-based version of the great mining game. Notch explained about the current Indie game climate, "I'm afraid people will think indie games make a lot of money – they don't, and you won't get rich off them, probably," he said. "I was lucky, few are as lucky. Only one or two get – bam – that moment which catapults them. That was me."
Notch was also blunt about something I'm passionate about: International Distribution. Whilst I am amazed we live in a day and age where we have Facebook, Twitter and the revival of Futurama, game developers still cannot get their head around releasing games internationally online: "The global market means it's very cheap to distribute, and if you're very small with low costs you don't have to sell many orders to make a profit."
Notch has been one of gaming's biggest influences when it comes to the Indie Games Market, barely a year ago no one knew what Minecraft was and now it has been one of the most influential and interesting titles of all-time. Combining the absolute fun of creation game and the player-based experience of finding the most random and interesting things whilst trying to survive.
