BioWare has announced over official press waves that the first official downloadable content of Mass Effect, "Bring Down the Sky," is now available for download from the developer's official site. The DLC is free to all owners of Mass Effect on the PC - granted that they can prove they own a legitimate copy.
For true to what we've reported earlier, BioWare is now taking the approach of Stardock Systems and has created a system in order to reward true owners of valid Mass Effect PC (MEPC) copies via online registration. So take note: the only way you're going to get this free DLC is if you've registered up on BioWare with your game, proving that you own a non-pirated copy.
With that said, gamers will get the same content that was offered for a price up on Microsoft's Xbox LIVE Marketplace some time back - a new uncharted planet, new missions, a new alien race, and 90 more minutes of gameplay - only this time it was formatted for the PC, just like ol' MEPC.
Bring Down the Sky can be downloaded via the section of BioWare's Mass Effect portal linked to below, but you'll have to register first if you haven't already. There's also a new patch there somewhere. We'll get right on it, so expect an update soon.
