I Am Alive not coming to PC |
Listed in: News Tags: i am alive, pc game piracy

I Am Alive, the Apocalyptic-Life-Sim, has spent a good time in development. Back in 2008, the first time we saw a bit of footage, a group of people were fighting over a water bottle in a crumbling Chicago, but it seems that squabbling has come to a boiling point as the creators recently came out slamming PC gamers and PC development only months after cancelling a PC version of the game. The game is now strictly for XBLA and PSN players who will be downloading the game some time in 2012 from Ubisoft. But why did they cancel the PC version of the game?
Well Ubisoft is flying the pirate flag as the key reason why they have decided to not go ahead with the PC version of the game. Stanislas Mettra, I Am Alive's creative director, explained the current issues regarding the development as hearing the PC gamer loud and clear....and by loud and clear he meant they were just "bitching" about there being no PC version. He says that they are the loudest and make the most noise, but the question is why. Mettra cites the Hydra-headed PC gamer as someone who may just want the game on PC just to pirate it, play it or try it, plus it's expensive as hell.
See, in older generations, pretty much pre-Internet piracy, you know when you were like five or ten or something, hype was a pretty big thing and still is in this age, but when people were excited for game, they only had one option to get the game. Going down to the store, slamming down money and getting it. Now, it's torn between digital distribution, brick and mortar places and of course, piracy. So when there is interest in a game, specifically PC, the actual chances of it being profitable are quite minimal. So now, the creative director saying that PC gamers were bitching (and not in the cool way, like Bitchin' ), this will not bode well with the audience which has probably been scorned the most, if somewhat subjectively, based on a group of people who they may not even fraternise with.
