2. Dedicated servers

Said an update over at the game's official forums:

"Homefront's dedicated servers are currently at capacity, and this is causing some matchmaking issues for players attempting to join an online match."

"The demand for the servers has outstripped our expecttions - so although we're thrilled that Homefront is proving to be so popular, we're doing all we can to bring more servers online to cope with this demand ASAP."

Not about to let this opportunity to shoot at Kaos' current dilemma, Battlefield 3 Senior gameplay desinger Alan Kertz tweeted, "I don't expect KAOS studio to last... THQ was already talking up moving them away from New York."

Ouch.

The game's been very creative with its marketing approach, launching a roving Korean BBQ stall and launching a bunch of red balloons over the San Francisco Bay (which eventually failed because they all got swept to the waters, resulting in a rush of complaints from the Bay residents), but while numbers appear to be good, it takes more than that to say that customers are satisfied with what they got.

Homefront features American freedom fighters defending the country from an invasion by a unified Korea. Game's out now.

it does sound like they're having a very rough start. but what do you think? did thq hit their mark with homefront, or was it all just hype?

I hope people wake up and smell the ashes :P

I'm personally sick of COD, same old thing, which is why I'm getting this game for something different... but I think some gamers are just too far up COD's arse to care what's going on around them lol

It doesn't matter how much they market it... it's not going to affect review scores. That said, there's news going around that the game is 5 hours long and then all you're left with is a CoD clone for multiplayer... not exactly unique IMO and thus very little people are going to care.

The game is alright with the storyline and gameplay. The problem is people expecting too much for it to be a CoD clone. Look on GameFaqs forum and you can tell that is one issue. There are some people experiencing glitches & freezes. The game should not have been marked with a X360 exclusivity right away since it's predecessor "Frontlines: Fuel of War" didn't do well either. Don't know if anyone went to the retailers' midnight launch personally, but that's overhype right there. At least THQ tried to help Kaos Studio by advertising the game heavily.

I just couldn't get excited for another CoD like FPS. Maybe its FPS burnout, I don't know but I have absolutely no interest in this.

the game is pretty good. Campaign is short and a little cheesy, but multiplayer is solid. Perfect balance of infantry and vehicles and I am one that usually hates vehicles in games...
