Heavy Duty web site goes live - screenshots, FAQ, other assets available |
Ó

Akella has just announced that an official site for Primal Software's highly ambitious title, Heavy Duty, has just gone live, just after the Moscow-based publisher also created a full English portal of their official web presence. And those who haven't picked up on the real-time strategy, tactical action title will get to learn why some people have been hunting it down since its trailer was shown at E3 2006.
The site is full of every last bit of information related to Heavy Duty and its current state of development. Aside from screenshots depicting updated graphics since the E3 unveiling, visitors can also prime themselves of the game's facets and mechanics via the general FAQ provided.
There's also a Forum available, but if you can't understand russkiy (or Russian), you'd be hard-pressed to find it useful. Babelizers work well, though. Plus, there's also a small collection of videos showing Heavy Duty's technical prowess, as well as a short record of the recent press coverage of the game.

Heavy Duty, for those whose interests we've piqued, is a game that combines the ideas from Battle Engine Aquila, Fury3, and Terminal Velocity, Populous The Beginning, UFO, and X-COM, Breed, and just a whole lot of Warzone 2100 and MechWarrior, Heavy Gear, or Gundam. It sets humanity in a battle for ownership of a hospitable planet, which comes into "contestation" with a race of advanced extraterrestrials.
The aliens deploy away from your colonized world, entering the atmosphere with their nimble craft. As commander of the planet's defenses, you are to coordinate the colonists' forces against the invaders wherever - and anywhere on the planet - you deem strategic and worthwhile.
And that's everything from dogfighting UFOs in air over land or sea or mounting a massive offensive against a newly established alien firebase. But that's not all - the game boasts a lot of other features, which you'd do best to find out from the FAQ by visiting the site at the Via link below.
The Russian software company has plans to release Heavy Duty on PCs by the first quarter of 2008. But some gamers may want to know that they are also in possession of several other IPs in development: Jagged Alliance, Disciples, and Postal.
