Gordon Freeman hitches a ride onto Renegade Ops |

Gordon Freeman -- theoretical physicist, crowbar connoisseur, and the living embodiment of Death to all headcrabs (except maybe Lamarr) -- is finally coming back to PCs next month. Before you go hoarse from shouting "new Half-Life!", there's a little caveat: he won't be appearing in a Half-Life game.
Sega and Valve have formed an alliance to bring the celebrated Half-Life hero and his trusty buggy to the Steam version of Renegade Ops, a top-down vehicular shooter developed by Avalanche Studios. His special power will let players unleash Antlions on their enemies.
"Working with Steam and the Half-Life team makes this game extra special," John Clark, director of PC Digital, said in a statement. "Gordon Freeman is a deeply-established character in the gaming world and we are proud to have him included in Renegade Ops."
Renegade Ops tasks players with protecting the free world by blasting their way through enemy lines in multiplayer, fighting alone in single player or teaming up offline with two-player split screen. Originally slated for a September release, the game now comes out on Steam on October 14th.
It's not exactly the way I pictured the One Free Man's return, but hey, maybe he just needs a little R&R from all that world saving he does on a regular basis.
