Company of Heroes is one of those rare beloved titles that seems to have stuck a chord with a very specific niche of the gaming community. So it’s no surprise that THQ would want to further capitalize on the franchise’s popularity—assuming, of course, the company can afford to make anything besides a press statement.
Financial woes aside, THQ appears ready to press forward with Company of Heroes 2, which was confirmed this week and will be on display at this year’s E3 conference. The new game centers around the Red army’s engagements on the Eastern Front during World War II and features new tech, new characters and the same competitive multiplayer mechanics.
Relic Entertainment, the studio behind the game, is also promising strong post-launch support that “expands the product’s lifecycle.” In other words, DLC by the truckload.
Company of Heroes 2 is currently slated for an early 2013 release. Will you be commanding Russian units next winter?
