GAME signs deal with GDI to market AWOMO - Image 1

In an effort to step up their "game", retail specialist GAME has recently struck a deal with Game Domain International (or GDI) to provide marketing and technological services for the firm's upcoming AWOMO. A World of My Own, the PC gamer's answer to Sony's PlayStation Home, Microsoft's Xbox Live, and Nintendo's WiiWare, is set to provide gamers the ability to select, purchase and download games - all while playing inside a virtual 3D portal with other PC gamers.

Because AWOMO provides data streaming for games and doesn't require large hard drives to store the games, the online portal will require only the most optimal connections toward players. This is where GAME steps in: players will be able to stream data through game.co.uk, allowing a choice of network travel path to avoid net and download congestion.

"We are committed to exploring new ways to deliver products to customers. We are very interested in the technology and services that GDI has developed," concluded Alex Croft, managing director of game.co.uk. The experimental technologies are now currently being tested at the AWOMO portal.
