Game Informer was able to get the scoop on Gearbox Software's upcoming multiplatform release, Borderlands 2. Here's what gaming news site Gematsu was able to glean from the mag:

  • There will be a new set of four playable characters
  • One of the new playable characters is a Gunzerker named Salvador (see pic above) who can use any two weapons at once
  • The four characters from the original game will return as NPCs
  • Co-op will still be a four-player affair
  • Story missions will be dynamic and have a larger impact on character development
  • A new element, Eridium, can be used as currency and can also be combined with other elements to upgrade weapon and vehicle stats
  • All weapons will be new and can be customized with decals and enhancements
  • Gun manufacturers will have their own signature style
  • Some pickups will have temporary buffs
  • The skill tree will use the traditional three-branch system
  • Enemies will be more varied and will have imrpoved AI
  • NPC AI has also been improved, letting them walk about and engage players in interactive dialogue
  • More vehicular variety
  • Claptrap will be back in some form

Gearbox Software formally announced Borderlands 2 a few days ago. It's currently set for release during publisher Take-Two's fiscal 2013.

One one hand, with all the time and work I spent on my Borderlands 1 character, I am a little sad I can't import anything into Borderlands 2.... on the other hand, with all new characters and weapons, I don't see how that would have been possible anyway.

maybe they will give you somthing if you have borderlands one but you shouldnt be expecting anything too big, it would just ruin the new game
