Valve boss Gabe Newell recently gave his thoughts on EA Origin. Does he sing praises for the service or bash it?

"I think it does some things well," Newell said.

EA Origin is in direct competition with Steam in the PC Gaming space. As such, big EA titles like Mass Effect 3 and Battlefield 3 won't hit Steam at all.

"I think there are still some areas where, as a customer, I'd like to see it improve. It's not that different from any other system like this. There are positive things and negative things," Newell added.

EA has previously said that there will be some conflics between Origin and Steam. Newell downplayed this a bit.

""I and everyone at Valve know that you're only as successful as what you've done lately. So the idea that Steam is somehow the answer to digital distribution ignores the fact that every two or three years, something is going to change dramatically."
