From Dust PC to require Ubisoft Online Service DRM?

As it turns out, it's not only Driver: San Francisco that will require you to be online everytime. From Dust, so we hear, will also be getting the same treatment after all.

Over at Steam's page, it's been confirmed that the God game will feature Ubisoft's Online Service, as a third-party requirement. If it's still not sinking in, let me help you out: From Dust will require permanent online connection from your part, in order to enjoy the game to its full extent.

A lot of players will obviously balk at this, simply because of the cost it will mean to them. It just sucks that such a pre-requisite is required when all we want to do is kick back, push those buttons, and enjoy right in the confines of our rooms.

From Dust comes out on the PC come August 17th. Ubisoft has come out with a bunch of gameplay trailers for you to  enjoy a couple of months back, as well as a Dev Diary. Enjoy those in the meantime.

did they not already learned there lesson from the first set of games that use this form of drm before well same kind of patch will be made again to allow us to use it offline and i hope on top of this that the hackers also crash there server again so that when pirates are able to play the game offline and not the people who buy the right cannot play the game than hope the company will not use this crazy retarded drm again.

if they will insist on this, they might as well make sure this will be foolproof.

I vowed never to buy a new release from Ubisoft again, I'm a little tempted every now and then, but I had a horrible experience with Splinter Cell Conviction.

I don't buy many PC games, but I thought SC Conviction deserved it (I own EVERY other SC game before it), but that Ubipass was really gay, but as long as my Internet connection was fine I could play. BUT THE MULTIPLAYER DIDN'T WORK, WTF! AND HACKERS STILL HACKED IT, AND HAD APPARENTLY MORE FUNCTIONAL MULTIPLAYER THAN I. Ubisoft, how about you spend less time protecting the game, and failing, and more time making one THAT FUCKING WORKS.

I re-installed the game recently to see if they fixed the problem, which I doubt in the extreme, but on my new computer it just crashes when I boot multiplayer, ON A FRESH INSTALL, FUCK YOU UBISOFT.

[I did roam the internet for help, and found nothing, only loads of people with the same problem, it was quite a wide spread issue.]

Are you fucking kidding me? You delay the game for nearly a month AND you put this shit DRM in the game? Way to fail Ubi.

Guess I'll be pirating it then until the DRM gets removed. I was REALLY looking forward to this title. I wish there was a way I could send the devs money and not the publishers.

so instead of a potential lost sale due to piracy, it's a guaranteed lost sale due to DRM. Who's making these business decisions?

In the end it doesn't matter, people will have the DRM beat within a couple days and then BAM, if you bought the game your a sucker cause the pirated version will be less trouble.

And, like in the past, many of the people who actually go buy the game will have to pirate it anyways cause the DLC won't let them run their game.

Guess what word of mouth is saying there?
DON'T BUY IT.
