Free To Play Games Are So Far 'Shitty'. Here's Why |
Listed in: News Tags: David Jaffe, free to play games, twisted metal
Ok, Warface might be stealing all the attention as the premium free to play title out there at the moment, but David Jaffe has the promotional power of his name when it comes to putting out his new free to play third person shooter.
He started off his interview with GamesIndustry International with ‘I hate free-to-play but I love aspects of it’. He goes on to say how he loves the instant access of it, and how people can just jump into a game at lunch for five minutes or get sucked in for three hours. He said ‘You don’t have to sit there and power up your fu*king machine and go through legal screens’.

Will David's browser title be anything like Twisted Metal?
He also addresses the idea that we pay for the extra bonuses in free to play games to get better at them, which is completely true, despite the developers assuring that they don’t offer any real advantage. ‘[It’s] pay with your time or pay with your money. Well both of those are really shitty.’
He seems to be really trying to get gamers on his side, which is a smart move considering how prone we are to complaining these days.
Here’s hoping the Twisted Metal designer can cook up something worth spending time on.

You get exactly what you want.
That's not to say some of them don't suck or are too greedy. Those exist as well.
