The Ship: Free on SteamMystery game fans will be glad to know of some free downloadable content over at Steam, as Outerlight's "massively mysterious thriller," known as The Ship, will be up for a free full game trial from now until Tuesday.

You've read that right: a full game trial. People can get their own full trials of The Ship just by logging in to their Steam accounts. We're not sure just what they mean by a full game trial, but if the whole thing is playable, you can expect someone to grab the trial and finish the game before Christmas rolls around.

The game will be up on the Steam digital distribution platform until 1 p.m. (PST) of December 26. Let's just hope no storms hit the Seattle area, or Steam could be down again for a little while. Enjoy the download!

What they mean by "full game trial" is that you are free to download the entire, complete game from them and play it for as long as the trial period lasts. Then, the game becomes non-functional until you decide to purchase it.

If anybody's curious about what The Ship plays like, I wrote up an Impressions article on it from the last time they did a trial on it: http://weaselsblaugh.blogspot.com/2006/11/impressions-ship.html
