First Steam Games Receive Linux System Reqs |
Listed in: News Tags: Gabe Newell, Linux, nerds, Steam, Ubuntu, valve
Remember how Valve launched a Linux beta of Steam? Looks like it might not be a “beta” for much longer. The company has started adding Linux system requirements to some of its games, indicating that a Linux release of the popular digital distribution platform is closer than we might have thought.

At the moment, listings are limited to a bunch of indie games that already supported Linux and Valve’s first-party releases. The primary requirement is Ubuntu, and naturally the rest tend to vary based on the game you’re looking to play.
All things considered, this is a clear confirmation that Valve is preparing to make a serious push into Linux territory. Maybe it has something to do with how bummed out Gabe Newell is about Windows 8.
Are you a Linux user? Do you want Steam? Let us know in the comments.
