Field Ops

Field Ops is a real-time strategy shooter from Freeze Interactive. We got ten screenshots from them and some info about this game. The shots are from the third mission in the game where the Special Ops Group has to go to Santiago and take over abandoned Soviet silos. That right there gives you a clue about the game (no aliens, no huge fleets of vehicles).

In other words, Field Ops is a shooter about a "clandestine hunt for the head of an emerging terrorist network." It's kind of a 3D Tactical RTS with FPS and TPS modes for individual soldiers and vehicles (the 3D environment uses the Walker 3 engine). Here are other features of the game:
  • The AI is "capable of performing complex tactical decisions"
  • 16 single player missions, 6 individual heroes, 30+ realistic US and terrorist units and vehicles, 20+ detailed, real-life weapons and modifications (pistols to missile launchers)
  • Evolving unit types with levels and experience carried on to future missions
  • Units may run, crouch, prone, scatter, or take cover as needed
  • V.I.P. rescue, Bomb run, and Conquest - the classic multiplayer modes, even in RTS versus FPS setups
  • Weather conditions range from tropical rain to massive sandstorms
Field Ops is scheduled for release in North America in the first quarter of 2007.
