Exclusive Direct2Drive Stronghold 3 pre-order freebies revealed

The Firefly Studios-developed real-time strategy game, Stronghold 3, isn't coming out until September but those who want to make sure they get their copies on day one have a treat waiting for them. The developer is partnering up with 7sixty for a special pre-order freebie for those who pre-order through GameFly's Direct2Drive service.

Those who pre-order the game through the online store will receive an exclusive single-player level based around a historically accurate recreation of Edinburgh castle, as it was during the medieval period. Players can choose whether to attack or defend the famous location before heading online to compare their performances in the brand new leader boards. Customers who pre-order will also get a free copy of the original Stronghold from 2001.

"We're pleased to be partnering with 7sixty to offer consumers at GameFly's Direct2Drive an exclusive castle to explore," said GameFly co-founder Sean Spector. "The additional level is a great value-add as it's not available anywhere else, it expands the single-player experience, and offers players the opportunity to become king of that castle in the online high score tables."
