EA's Syndicate reboot details leaked

After long speculation, it seems Electronic Arts' often-rumored Syndicate remake has been forcibly pulled out into the light. A bunch of details on the upcoming Starbreeze title has reportedly been dug up thanks to EA's own Origin service, of all places.

According to a report from gaming news site VG247, Starbreeze's Project Redlime takes place in 2069 in a world controlled by Syndicates. Players will control Miles Kilo, Eurocorp's latest prototype agent. The premise as well as the new tagline sounds like pure cyberpunk: "Business is war".

The game will follow in the footsteps of 2K's take on the XCom series. While the original Bullfrog-developed Syndicate was a real-time tactical game, the reboot will be a more action-oriented first person shooter. Players will be able to look through walls and even slow down time with the help of a "neural DART6 chip implant that allows you to interface directly with the Dataverse.

Among the other details mentioned in the report are four-player online co-op and nine reimagined missions from the original Syndicate. EA Partners will be publishing. GameReactor Sweden is also allegedly publishing a reveal in their next issue. You can find more in this NeoGAF thread.

Syndicate creator Peter Molyneux has intimated before that he'd love to be involved in the remake, but considering the genre shift I'd guess he isn't.

Yes, I can and just did based on the fact that I'm sick of FPS and the converting of classics in to FPS. We all know it's just an easier way to milk the name again and not about "innovation". Also, why would I bother building an FPS game? Do you attempt to "build" everything you dislike? I think not. K thx bye.

In order to make it console friendy, its only normal its dumbed down to a crappy FPS. I remember playing the original Syndicate, this is just going to be another run of the mill shit console game as thats what the children of today want.

They've lost me. Theres a bunch of FPS's out there already I don't play. Why take a classic RTS IP and rape and pillage it?

Hopefully it gets turned into a hybrid rather than straight out shooter.
Though that's unlikely...
