EA, universities team up for Sims student art show

The Sims art competition to be launched soon - Image 1In recent news, Electronic Arts (EA) has announced a partnership with various universities to present a Sims student art show. The universities involved in this project include Parsons The New School for Design in New York, Academy of Art University in San Francisco and Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles. A total of US$ 12,000 in prizes for each school will be given to the winners of the competition, which will be judged separately by EA and the three other schools.

The Ford Motor Company will be sponsoring the exhibits which will cover a variety of mediums. The mediums in the competition include machinima, interactive displays, paintings, sculptural work, fashion designs, illustrations, and cinematography. The students will be basing their work on the EA's The Sims franchise.

Parsons The New School for Design will hold their exhibit on April 19 to May 12 this year at the Chelsea Art Museum, while the Academy of Art University will be holding theirs from June 26 to July 19  in the 79 Gallery at San Francisco. Meanwhile, the Otis College of Art and Design will host theirs on July 14 to August 11 in the Ben Maltz Gallery in Los Angeles.
