EA Sports is keen on tapping into the indie scene, so it becomes clear. The company has made this decision in line with their commitment to push further into the digital and casual markets.

It's gonna be a knockout!

An indie sports title? Why not! Said Senior VP Andrew Wilson, "if it lived up to the EA Sports tenets of authenticity, competition and social interactivity," then they would definitely be open to venturing into that scene. He also stated that they are actually pushing his team "to empower the community to start developing sports games, because EAP (EA Partners) has had some great opportunities that came from smaller developers that grew into amazing IP and game experiences, and EA Sports wants to foster that as well."

Supporting the independent developers always sound good. Hopefully they will really have the commitment and the infrastructure to do so. Then again, with EA Origin well on its way, it's actually no wonder that they're veering into this direction. Best of luck to EA Sports on this, then!

Electronic Arts has been very aggressive as of late in campaigning for their bigger and bolder venture into the digital and casual markets. They also have openly dissed Apple's App Store model as being in "freefall".
