EA and Valve settled differences with Origin? |
Listed in: News, Steam Tags: ea games, l4d, left 4 dead, origin, valve

EA Games have always been known to "challenge everything" and when they dropped Battlefield 3 from the Steam store, it seemed they were challenging the creators of one of the greatest digital distribution services available online. This is when people started to talk about EA's online service origin and how they were taking their games and going elsewhere just so you and Steam couldn't play with them, cos you stole their firetruck or some whingy BS.
But apparently all seems to be fine in PC land and that firetruck turned up after Timmy's mum went to the store because the games on Origin aren’t just being digitally distributed through Origin’s service, they are retail copies (in boxes made of actual matter like in olden times) that will be delivered to users as part of the offer on their website.
At retail level, Valve products have been published by EA for many a moon, so this could be seen as nothing more than a good way to free up some warehouse space and show off what they can do on and offline as I've heard certain places in the UK don't stock Valve's stuff due to a decline in sales, so whether or not this is a dual sneaky tactic to get more digital distribution but make retailers happy at the same time...whom knows?...Probably someone at EA, I should probably ask, that's what a real video game journalist would do...oh well.
