DICE has finally pinned down the release date of the next installment of the Battlefield series.

A lil' taste of the action

Revealed at EA's E3 press briefing earlier, DICE has revealed that Battlefield 3 will be released  on October 25, 2011, with a multi-platform open beta scheduled in September.

“We are proud to finally open the curtains and reveal Battlefield 3. The core development team has been together since 2005. We’ve grown together, taken some knocks together and now, we’re ready to take first person shooters to a whole new level, together,” said Patrick Bach, Executive Producer. “Like so many gamers out there, we’ve had some pretty wild ideas about what we’d want to see in a shooter. Until now, it was all just fantasy. But with Frostbite 2, even our most far-reaching ideas are becoming a reality.  This is the game we’ve always wanted to create.”

The game is now being showcased at E3 in the EA booth. It includes a single player campaign which features two new playable characters, Dmitri “Dima” Mayakovsky, a Russian undercover agent, who "must fight his way from the Paris Stock Exchange through the crowded city streets in a desperate attempt to stop PLR operatives from detonating a dirty bomb in the heart of Paris" and Jonathan “Jono” Miller, a Marine Corporal from America’s heartland, who is "deployed to the barren dustbowl of the Tehran desert to engage PLR forces." The popular Battlefield multiplayer mode ‘Rush’ is also back and playable on PC in the EA booth.

In case you haven't reserved your copies yet, EA recently announced a Limited Edition package for the game. It includes a plenthora of in game goodies and the Back to Karkand digital expansion pack which pays tribute to Battlefield fans by featuring four of the most beloved maps from Battlefield 2, now boldly re-mastered using Frostbite 2.

Graphics look good but like apple products I cant see whats special about it.
It seems like loads of people just fell for the hype just like the last battlefield thing that was released.
"oh it'll beat cod rah rah" loads of people on my friends list bought it and it was all anyone played... untill the next day when they were all back on cod again.

People are only trashing MW3 because it's so ridiculously successfully and saying they only gonna buy BF3 because it's the underdog and it's just Human nature to support someone who's struggling, but if you all stop being so picky about the slightest little bugs like every other game has then it is a good game, and most of you saying you won't are gonna buy it anyway and just hope people forget all these protest comments.

The game itself isn't so buggy, but the fact that the community is shit, also it has recyceled the MW2 engine and it will be as brown and bloom as the MW2.

You can blow up buildings and stuff!
Also I'll buy MW3 probably, but only if it's dirt cheap used.
By the way, I trash CoD not because it's successful, but because of how the publishers and devs act to the success.
I mean as soon as CoD4 became a hit they started getting more hype year after year, and year after year it got worse and worse.

no.... MW is literally a piece of shit that little kids like because it's all about who gets the most kills. Plays like a piece of shit too. Dont say shit because I have played both battlefield 2 and MW2 and black ops.
