Recent rumors of giant PC manufacturer Dell dropping AMD products from its future units have turned out untrue. This was proven with the revelation of new Dell OptiPlex business machines being built around AMD processor technology.Tom's Hardware recently reported that OptiPlex 740 and 740 Enhanced systems are to be launched on February 19th on a global basis. The OptiPlex 740 line will use either single or dual core Athlon 64 processors paired with GeForce 6150LE graphics cards. The Enhanced line will have almost identical specs, but will rack up some serious power with Phenom triple and quad-core processors from AMD.
Other features of these upcoming machines are the same motherboards of previous OptiPlex workstations equipped with Quadro NVS 210S cards for multiple monitors, seven USB 2.0 ports for entry models, and eight of the same ports for OptiPlex 745s. Better graphics cards may come with higher-end variants. Expect to see ATI RV740s, GeForce 8200s, and other models of that ilk. You can follow the Via link for more information.
