Deep Silver: Dead Island PC patch may wipe out your save game |

Steam users in North America who've downloaded yesterday's PC release of Deep Silver's open-world zombie shoot fest was treated with a surprise, as the game was packed with quite a few bugs, because apparently, a debugged version of the game was accidentally released instead of the final build.

A mistake that Deep Silver quickly rectified by releasing the correct build of the game. The "correct version of the title is now available on Steam and fans are able to download it," says Deep Silver's PR Manager Aubrey Norris.
A new patch was also released for those who've downloaded the wrong build of the game, though Norris warns that: "this update may cause incompatibilities between the incorrect version of Dead Island that was released and the fixed version and cause a wipe on saved games." To remedy the potential set back, Norris offered a solution: "When the game opens, select New Game -> Select the same character as you were using before, and then there will be an option for 'Chapter Select' which will allow the player to jump to the last chapter they were playing in."
Norris added that they are aware of The Ripper activation bug "which will not load as a result of the version update." But it will not be fixed until the next Dead Island update, which will be out "soon."
Yesterday, Deep Silver released details of the day one patch. It looks like a pretty rough start from the guys.
