Crytek: Homefront 2 will be our best title so far

THQ announced last week that they've chosen Crysis 2 developer Crytek's UK studio to make the sequel to the now-defunct Kaos Studios' Homefront. So far, Crytek seems pretty confident about the work they're doing on the sequel.

Speaking to NowGamer, studio boss Cevat Yerli said that Homefront 2 is shaping up to be the best tile the studio has made so far. Crytek has quite the pedigree when it comes to first person shooters, but Yerli emphasized Homefront 2 and their earlier games like Far Cry and the Crysis games would be quite different in scope and feel.

"Homefront is going to be Homefront, and Crysis will be Crysis," he said. "There will be learning shared between Crytek and Crytek UK of course, but how the gameplay of Homefront 2 will look like, it’s too early to say.""

Yerli has said before that he and his team see a lot of potential in the Homefront universe, so they're making sure they deliver "a truly blockbuster game". It's still too early to judge whether or not the game will succeed, but if Crytek manages to merge the original's atmosphere and story wth the polish that Crysis games are known for then it may just turn out to be a new moneymaker for publisher THQ.
