Updates for Crysis' multplayer Beta modes - Image 1Wondering what's been going on lately with Crysis' soon-to-arrive Multiplayer Beta? Developer Crytek has recently posted some new updates for MP beta, specifically regarding tweaks to the game modes, and an explanation of the DX9 and DX10 cards.

First up is a run-through of the game modes. The devs explained that to help fine-tune the multiplayer modes, they got over 20 professional gamers to their Frankfurt office over the span of a couple of months. Dubbed The Expert's Club, this group helped polish up the various multiplayer modes tot he form players will be looking at come MP beta this September 25.

PowerStruggle mode, Crysis' destroy-the-enemy-HQ team battle mode  has reportedly received the largest chunk of Crytek's changes:
  • Captured Alien Crash sites automatically transfer energy to the captured Research Facility.
  • Energy only charges when the Research Facility and at least one Alien Crash site is captured by one team.
  • Overall two stages of charging the reactor are available. At 50% you have basic Alien technology available and at 100% you have the endgame technology available for your team.
  • The enemy HQ can be destroyed by TAC Gun, TAC Tank or Singularity Tank only.
  • Defensive Turrets do attack enemy infantry and vehicles but do not destroy shells of endgame weaponry anymore.
  • HUD has been completely re-designed for a much better overview.
  • Overall economy has been modified and improved to guarantee a constant game flow.
  • Camouflage Nanosuit mode has been replaced with the Alien cloak mode.
Instant Action mode, Crysis' own blend of team Deathmatch, has apparently received minimal changes. In line with the fixes to Power Struggle and Instant Action, the devs have decided to remove Team Action mode for the upcoming Multiplayer Beta. Moving on to the next topic, the developers also explained the differences between Crysis MP running on DX9 and DX10 framework.

The Crytek team further noted that players running on a DX10 card could play on DX9 servers, although within the server's set limits. Players running on a DX9 card, as expected, would be unable to run on DX10 servers.

That's the most recent info we've picked up for Crysis for the PC. We'll let the guys know if anything new comes up in the near future. In the meantime, you can go ahead and check out the Via link for the full
discussion at the inCrysis forums.
