CryEngine 3 Looking Delicious

If there’s one company out there that knows how to build a ridiculous game engine, it’s CryTek. And while we’ve been seeing previews of its new CryEngine 3 as well as concept art for the engine’s first title, Crysis 3, nothing has really showcased the power of the engine for me until I saw this ridiculous video showing off the engine’s soft-body physics capabilities.

Seriously, check this out:

What’s impressive about the demo is that everything you see is being calculated in real-time by the engine. Nothing is pre-animated or rendered—it all happens live as the engine sorts out exactly what you’re supposed to be seeing.

Naturally it’s a rough demo, but the possibilities of this technology when packaged with the incredible graphics for which CryTek is known hint that Crysis 3 may be the best-looking game made to date.

We’ll just have to wait and see.

We will just have to wait and see as the tech demo looks cool and all. How ever they were saying the same things about Crysis 2 when it was being developed. Sadly I did not find Crysis 2 to be all that impressive after playing the game. My friend just took one look at Crysis 2 and was turned off instantly. So only time will tell as to whether they can actually deliver on there promise this time, of bringing some thing new to the market that is impressive.

It is really to early to judge the new game engine there developing. Only time will tell if this new game engine can deliver what they advertise here.

First of all they have released a new video that is much better Here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9JPDtDfxf6w This is not CryEngine 3. this is a physics simulation being built on cryengine 3 by a independent company called BeamNG consisting of 2 coders and 2 artists. At this point in time this is not in any games, including crysis 3. BeamNG is working on the engine as well as a game that they have not figured the details of yet. more information is in the video description and on their website. http://beamng.com/ it looks like they have removed the FAQ. there is even more info here https://getsatisfaction.com/beamng
