CESA: TGS 2011 will be downsized, not canceled

With the natural disaster that struck Japan early this month, concerns have been raised - among many others - about whether or not the annual Tokyo Game Show will be canceled. Show organizer CESA has released a statement, reassuring fans that the show will go on, albeit with a few changes.

tgs_crowds So said the TGS management to Kotaku, "Currently, we are not thinking of canceling or making the show smaller." They did clarify, however, that "Depending on the situation from here on out, it is possible that the show is reduced."

This year's Tokyo Game Show is set to take place at teh Makuhari Messe on September 15th to 18th. While that still seems a bit too far away to be worrying about, fact of the matter is that annual events such as this start planning even before the last one actually closes. It's an ongoing process, and it should be good that they're addressing this matter this early on.

After all, it's just about five months away, and really, that isn't so much time left if they want to pull off a successful one despite the obvious obstacles currently standing in their way.
