Borderlands 3 is Not in Development...Yet |

Over the past few days, there have been a flurry of rumors that Gearbox has already begun work on a followup to their hugely popular Borderlands 2 that was released last month. However, for those of you looking to get a peek into the possibility of a new game, some official tweets have been released that do everything possible to squash those allegations. Does that mean we may never see another Borderlands game ever? As of right now, that simple fact remains possible but not likely. As the developers work on new projects, only time will reveal what is in store for a future Borderlands title.

In response to all of that industry speculation, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford was very vocal about where the company is at this very moment. Straight from his Twitter, the industry figurehead uttered "Chill out internet, No one has started working on a sequel to Borderlands 2. Clean and simple truth: the only Borderlands-related game development work going on right now is for Borderlands 2." Things don't get much more blunt than that am I right? Not to fear however, because as we do already know there will be at least four different expansions to the game you already have so you shouldn't be crying just yet.
Not to mention, Pitchford did give us one final nugget of gold to possibly latch on to. He playfully ponders that he ""expects that to change at some point," admitting that "it's fun to talk and think." That being said, what may be Borderlands 3 is in fact little beyond the idea stage, so it may be a while before we hear anything more. Still, odds are you have probably spent so much time playing Borderlands 2 that you don't care how long it may take.
