Blizzard President apologizes for homophobic comments |

We reported a few days ago about the recent comments made at BlizzCon and a video that appeared online from BlizzCon sparked a fairly interesting controversy. A video shown during a performance of company band Level 90 Epic Tauren Chieftain of death metal band Cannibal Corpse lead singer George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher calling for all "Night Elf faggots"....yeah.
Whilst Cannibal Corpse have been known for their contextually dark and lyrically subversive lyrics, the fact that it was at a corporate gig and incited a lot of comments from both the gaming and homosexual community. Blizzard put their best foot forward and with the help of President and CEO of Blizzard, Mike Morhaime, spoke out against the comments saying in a letter to both communities:
Dear members of the Blizzard community,
I have read your feedback and comments about this year's BlizzCon, and I have also read the feedback to the apology from Level 90 Elite Tauren Chieftain. I'd like to respond to some of your feedback here.
As president of Blizzard, I take full responsibility for everything that occurs at BlizzCon.
It was shortsighted and insensitive to use the video at all, even in censored form. The language used in the original version, including the slurs and use of sexual orientation as an insult, is not acceptable, period. We realize now that having even an edited version at the show was counter to the standards we try to maintain in our forums and in our games. Doing so was an error in judgment, and we regret it.
The bottom line is we deeply apologize for our mistakes and for hurting or offending anyone. We want you to have fun at our events, and we want everyone to feel welcome. We're proud to be part of a huge and diverse community, and I am proud that so many aspects of the community are represented within Blizzard itself.
As a leader of Blizzard, and a member of the band, I truly hope you will accept my humblest apology.
- Mike Morhaime President, Blizzard Entertainment
It was probably the most heartfelt thing Blizzard has done all year and whilst the comments were not made on behalf of Blizzard, they do acknowledge the offence it caused. It was noble for them to even think of making any comment, let alone this wide an apology.

Words are just sounds, sounds that represent thoughts and intent, and when a tongue-in-cheek band mockingly call out for "Night Elf faggots" you have to be an absolute fucking moron to think that they're actually making a malicious pass at anybody's sexuality.

but i came to my senses and i felt weird with its lyrics, it's too gory if you picture it. so now i stay away from those types of metal genre, i think they're a death metal band.
i still like metal music, but not all types of metal music.

aeon that's your opinion and yes they are under the genre death metal just look at there band name.... You say your metal more like rook.... most metal is like that lyrical wise except power. even power can incorporate those type of lyrics so its more that you don't like their vocal style (lyrics styles in metal: mystic, politics, death, cult, life, etc. list is long.)
