Blizzard are developing Blizzard Dota, Starcraft 2 Client required

Moba games might be a little overloaded with titles at the moment (League of Legends, Heroes of Newerth, Dota 2) but that is not going to deter Blizzard.

Blizzard Dota was yet another item on the Blizzcon agenda that came as a bit of surprise.

The game will not be ported directly from the Warcraft 3 map, with Blizzard choosing to go their own way and develop a Defence of the Ancients (Dota) style game of their own.

Despite the fact that I would love to see Blizzard incorporate a super spider men style hero into their hero line-up, Blizzard Dota does look fairly well polished even at these early stages.

Key features that were detailed at Blizzcon include:

Themed hero characters from the Blizzard Universe.
- Arthas (Tank)
- Kerrigan and Nova (DPS)
- Thrall (Support)
- Witch Doctor (Siege).
Blizzard DOTA includes mounts that can be summoned at any time on the battlefield to get you back into the fight.
If you only own Starcraft: Wings of Liberty, you can still play Blizzard Dota.

There's no solid release date for Blizzard Dota, but Blizzard intends to ship it the same day as StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm according to reports from Blizzcon.

Blizzard will be putting their take on Dota into public beta within the 'next few months', according to Blizzcon reports.

There are no firm details on whether the game will be free to play (via downloadable map) or via some sort of in game transaction.
