Bethesda: Single-player is where their heart is

Although multiplayer is practically a staple in games nowadays, Bethesda is one company that just ends up ditching it.Not that they have anything against it, necessarily, it's just that, their heart belongs to something else, and that's single-player.

Talking to IGN, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim director Todd Howard divulged, "We always look into multiplayer, put lots of ideas on the whiteboard, and it always loses."

"It's not that we don't like it," he explains. "I can think of ways it would be a lot of fun, but at the end of the day, that dev time is going to take away from doing the best single player game we can, and that's where our hearts are."

That's not to say, however, that they're closing their doors on it absolutely. He hints, "The two most requested features we get are dragons and multiplayer. We got one of them this time!"

Multiplayer fans are undoubtedly crossing their fingers for a multiplayer feature in Skyrim, but somehow, I think it's going to be dragons.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is coming out for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on November 11, 2011.

Happily, though there games are bug-ridden, they still plan on making fun single-player games. Thanks Bethesda, you guys are awesome!

i think the elder scrolls games are best served as a single player experience. so dragons on this occasion i feel was the best choice.

I think that well made single player games can be better than multiplayer games. I prefer the dragons.

There were dragons in the trailers already, so we know it's them. Personally, I'd think it'd be awesome if they had multiplayer. Me and my friends always get into arguments about who's character is better and an arena match would solve that problem. :) Other than that co-op quests would be nice. Human players are usually smarter than AI. Notice the word "usually". ;-)

Multiplayer in certain degree's like... -

-Open shops like in Phantasy star Universe
-Arena online
-Guild formation

in my opinion worth it... BUT

Single player to have a world so large and beautiful my eyes are tearing from shear beauty..

Have a quest driven system on par to that of a real life scenarios.

Shooting systems for spells and arrows to an exactness of feeling realistic.

Great textures.
Good storyline...

all in all in order to make a great game it takes time...

Take for example EA!

LETS RELEASE A NEW MADDEN EVERY YEAR!!!
same players same models same fields same lines same BS... NEW ROSTER IS ALL!!! EA IS WHATS KILLING THE GAME INDUSTRY!

LETS RELEASE A NEW FIGHT NIGHT EVERY YEAR!!!
make one thats good (fight night round 3)
then make 2 others that suck more than a homo at a gay bar.

Now activision..

Ok so ill give them credit... Call of duty 2 4 and MW2 were great games (because of infinity ward)

Then 3 WaW and BO suck ass...horrible textures and gameplay.

So ends my argument...

yes keep single player and make it an experience I want to relive like Oblivion morrowind and Fallout 3 and new vegas...

Make a multiplayer that we can buy as an add-on later so you guys can develop that and I'm sure people wouldnt be too pissed off considering working on one thing at a time makes it better. Like RE5 multiplayer.
