Battlefield 3 bags 'Best of Gamescom' award

The winners of this year's Gamescom award 2011 have been determined.

Choosen by a select number of independent experts from the field of publishing and media, this year's awards includes a total of eight categories: Best PC Game, Best Console Game, Best Mobile Game, Best Online Game, Best Browser Game, Best Family Game, Best Hardware/Hardware Accessories, and Best of gamescom (selected by the jury from all categories).

Out of the eight categories, publishing giant Electronic Arts bagged four awards, including the coveted Best of Gamescom trophy to Battlefield 3. Sony on the other hand came out with two awards, with the PlayStation Vita named Best Hardware and Uncharted: Golden Abyss Best Mobile Game.

Here's the full list of winners:

  • Best of Gamescom: Battlefield 3, DICE, Electronic Arts
  • Best Hardware: PlayStation Vita, Sony Computer Entertainment
  • Best Console Game: FIFA 12, EA Sports, Electronic Arts
  • Best Mobile Game: Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Bend Studio, Sony Computer Entertainment
  • Best Online Game: Star Wars: The Old Republic, BioWare, Electronic Arts
  • Best PC Game: Diablo III, Blizzard Entertainment, Activision
  • Best Browser Game: The Sims Social, EA Play, Electronic Arts
  • Best Family Game: Sesame Street: Once Upon a Monster, Double Fine, Warner Bros. Interactive


This year's event trade fair is one for the books, with more than 300 games in attendance and few other surprise announcements.

Where does it say that?
As for it not being better, Battlefield 3 is in a different genre than Uncharted 3, so obviously you can't compare the two.
Also, I believe it got the "Best of Gamescom" award because Uncharted is pretty much the same, probably.

Come on this is just ridiculous it hasn't even been released yet, and i bet no one here can name 5 FPS's they still play, and take nostalgia out the picture i doubt you can name 2, and i can guarantee even if it is good it'll just be replaced and forgotten about when BF4 comes out. I dunno who gives out these awards but they either earning money for saying that or the event's run by a bunch of 12 year olds.

CoD: 4, FEAR 1-3, Fallout 3(FPS/RPG hybrid), Half-Life 2, Halo: CE(occasionally ).
I agree about the last part though.
