One of the draws of Atari's Neverwinter Nights 2 is the fact that modules can be added to further enhance one's gaming experience. The expansion for Neverwinter Nights 2, which is Mask of the Betrayer, developed by Obsidian Entertainment is the first official expansion for the game.

The expansion takes place after the final battle against the King of Shadows, when your character finds him/herself surrounded by a horde of evil spirits and stranded deep beneath the earth. If you survive the onslaught, then you will have to undertake an epic adventure that reveals your "true destiny". Mask of the Betrayer is set in Rashemen, a harsh but spirit-filled land, located near the powerful nation of Thay.

The module expands on the original Neverwinter Nights 2 with a new campaign and enhanced modding tools. The expansion also adds a lot of new content such as new races, base classes, prestige classes, weapons and armor, feats, spells and companions. And you'll need it all, because Obsidian has added new monsters for you to fight and outwit (i.e., run away from). Veterans of the game will be glad to see that epic levels are now available as well, giving you a chance to further expand on your old character.

Nique Fajors, the vice president of Sales and Marketing for Atari, Inc. spoke on the newest addition to Neverwinter Nights 2.

Atari's commitment to the Neverwinter Nights franchise and the enormous community is strong. We are on track to release the Neverwinter Nights 2 expansion pack this Fall, less than one year since the launch of Obsidian's outstanding sequel, and are confident the new features will deliver a role-playing experience that further engages and satisfies fans.

Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer is set to be released this Fall. Hopefully, it will satisfy the fans of the series who have been craving for more.
