Atari reveals Atari Online |
Ó
Eurogamer reports that Atari is working on a new online initiative that aims to create a creative global gaming community. The idea isn't new, but according to Atari's VP of online entertainment, Chris Bergstresser, their idea is a completely unique and fresh service, and he believes that this could be viewed by most as a way for Atari to go back to its roots. He explains further by saying:We are seeing a new generation of game experiences emerging that leverages community, user generated content and casual or short session games. Atari Online is centrally positioned in this evolution.
As to how this could be seen as a way for Atari to go back to its early years, Bergstresser said that in the earlier Atari years, they have encouraged 2600 aficionados to build their own games, now their hoping that the community still exists to try this new service out.
Atari plans on working both in and out of house to develop this service for a rang of operating systems. Atari Online would be introduced in the U.S. first while the rest of the world will have it on a later date. We'll give you more updates about Atari Online when more info comes our way.
