UPDATE: Announcing the World First Hardcore Inferno Diablo Kill |

UPDATE: As expected, Bashiok was talking out of his ass. Here's the new tweet, confirming the world first:
"My apologies Kripp and Krippi, looks like you were 1st HC Inferno clear. (my spreadsheet deciphering isn't what it used to be) Congrats!"
--------------------------
Even if you happened to be awake at around 4am, you probably weren’t aware that somewhere far away, one player was storming through dungeons, defeating vicious monsters and slowly working his way to one of gaming’s most difficult achievements.

Kripparrian, a hardcore Diablo player and livestreamer, was doing just that. And not only did he beat the game in Inferno mode, he did it on Hardcore. For the uninitiated, here’s why that’s such a big deal: In Diablo III’s Hardcore mode, if you die you lose your character, forever.
So, in other words, Kripparrian ran his Barbarian through all four of Diablo III’s difficulty modes without taking a single death. And, as it happens, he streamed the entire thing with nearly 50,000 people watching.
There is a bit of controversy, however. Bashiok, one of Blizzard’s Community Managers, issued a snarky tweet just after the event ended:
“People think that was the first HC Inferno clear? Weird. Webcams r 2 legit 2 quit. hay HAY”
He, of course, offered no further information on whom, if anyone, had the first kill, and why it wasn’t announced to the public. We’ll keep you posted.
Either way, it’s a hell of an accomplishment and awesome that Kripparrian was able to share it with so many viewers.
